<p>Las vistas generales (a veces denominadas pirámides) son una optimización que reduce el tiempo que lleva renderizar archivos GeoTIFF; Un tamaño de archivo más grande es este costo por este major rendimiento de renderizado.</p>

<p>Las vistas generales son copias de menor resolución de los datos ráster (potencia de dos factores [128x128, 256x256, etc.]) que se almacenan interna o externamente en un sidecar.</p>

<h2>¿Por qué se utilizarían las vistas generales?<a class="headerlink" href="#why-would-one-use-overviews" title="Enlazar permanentemente con este título"></a></h2>

<p>Estas ofrecen una vista previa rápida de los datos ráster al permitir que el programa que procesa el ráster elija el tamaño de pirámide más cercano para que coincida con la resolución de la extensión de visualización en la que se está procesando, lo que puede ahorrar una cantidad significativa de tiempo recuperando el ráster de tamaño completo, almacenando en búfer y luego reduciendo su escala para visualización.</p>

<p>En el caso de WebODM, las vistas generales son usadas para crear mosaicos dinámicos para la visualización rápida y la navegación del mapa web en 2D.</p>
