I wrote a note to Relisys asking if there were some way that they could
release information to allow a SANE driver to be written for their
scanners. FYI, here's a copy of what I wrote:
===============
Subject: Linux Scanner Driver
Date: Mon, 19 Apr 1999 09:53:29 -0700
From: "J. David Eisenberg" <nessus@best.com>
To: davidliu@tecoimage.com.tw

I have a Relisys Scorpio scanner; I'm very pleased with its performance.

Until now, I've been using it with Windows 95. My current projects
require me to use the Linux operating system most of the time, and I'd
like to use your scanner with Linux.

Unfortunately, you do not have any Linux drivers. Is there a document
that describes the Infinity series control codes? If so, then someone
who is an experienced driver-writer could write a set of Linux drivers,
and I'd be able to use your scanner on that system also.

Note: I'm not asking you to reveal the source code for your current PC
or Macintosh drivers; just the "API" for someone who would write a new
driver.

If you're interested in seeing which scanners are already supported by
Linux,
you may wish to see this URL: http://www.mostang.com/sane/
