Hi,

I have the same problem on a HP PhotoSmart scanner:-
sane version: 0.73
System: K6/200, PEL 1600 scsi card, adaptec aha152x SCSI driver

Executing the following as root or non-root gives
similar results :-

$ find-scanner
find-scanner: found processor "HP C5100A R032" at device /dev/scanner
find-scanner: found processor "HP C5100A R032" at device /dev/sga

$ scanimage
scanimage: no SANE devices found

With debugging turned on, I get:
$ scanimage
[sanei_init_debug]: Setting debug level of sanei_scsi to 128.
[sanei_init_debug]: Setting debug level of sanei_scsi to 128.
[sanei_scsi] sanei_scsi_req_wait: read 36 bytes
scanimage: no SANE devices found

Some driver info from dmesg:-
aha152x: trying software interrupt, ok.
scsi0 : Adaptec 152x SCSI driver; $Revision: 1.7 $
scsi : 1 host.
Vendor: HP Model: C5100A Rev: R032
Type: Processor ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Vendor: JVC Model: R2626 Rev: 2.05
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02

What gives? Did I miss out any installation step? The doc says
HP PhotoSmart is supported. Isn't it? BTW, the scanner works
fine with this configuration in Win95. But i'll rather work
in Linux.

Thanks for all help.
