The Epson Perfection 1200U and 636U are already working.
What we should do is come up with a standard way of configuration
for USB devices. I guess some extension to the sanei library to
suppor USB would not be a bad idea (like for SCSI and PIO).
So far I'm looking for a line "usb /dev/usbscanner" in epson.conf.
A better way would be to have just a line "USB" or similar and then
let the library scan the USB bus for a scanner device (unfortunately
all scanners so far need to be supported on a case by case basis).

> > Basically the problem is that the UMAX Astra 2000U requires a specific

> > UMAX protocol to operate it. UMAX refuses to release information on this

> > protocol and hence SANE is unable to control it.

> Other than the HP Scanjets (with the 4200 as the notible exception),

> what other USB scanners can we hope SANE will be able to control?
