When I scan slides using my HP 5100A (Photosmart) scanner and Sane-1.00
(installed from the redhat contrib rpm), the images come out very dark.
DejaNews reveals that others have reported this problem, and that it was
fixed for some by the new HP backend in 0.74. It looks like that backend is
part of the 1.00 release, so I am at a loss to understand why I see the
problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John Salmon
