Hi,
I write to ask a question regarding a little problem I have with my Canon CanoScan
2700F 35mm scanner running SANE 1.00 under Mandrake 5.2.
I've run various tests of the scanner using xscanimage (both from Gimp and from
command line) and everything works fine, both the basic functions (scanning modes and
brightness, contrast and threshold controls) and the advanced features (the geometry
parameters).
The only problem I have is that the backend (BTW, which backend is user for Canon
scanners? Is there someone developing it whom I can eventually contact?) lacks a
function to reset the scanner making it eject the slide it has just read.
This is not a great problem if I run xscanimage, since when it starts it resets the
scanner and doing so makes it release the slide, so I can scan a slide, exit, enter
and get the slide, scan another, exit, enter to get the slide back and so on ... not
the best way to work if you want to scan more slides in a session, but it works
Running scanimage, on the contrary, I've find no workaround to this problem: scanimage
has no user interface, it just does the scanning but doesn't let the user get back the
previous slide and insert another.
The driver Canon sells with the Scanner for Win9x systems has an Eject button, so I
think the scanner allows this operation.
Does anyone has suggestions to find a workaround (or a solution) for this? I can try
to investigate a little more on the Win driver to see which function is called to
eject the slide if it may be useful.
Thak you for your work
Ruggero Valetti
