I got the aha1522 scsi card working with the reconnect option on:

modprobe aha152x aha152x=0x140,11,7,1,1

and set up the SANE package, and was using SuSe 5.2, kernel
2.0.33.

also found :
# Version information for libsane-mustek.

When I tried to run xscanimage right away, it complained

[snapscan] add_device: "MUSTEKÿ MSF-06000SPÿÿÿÿÿ" is not an AGFA SnapScan
[snapscan] sane_snapscan_init: failed to add device "/dev/scanner"

Hmm. No, of course it wasn't an Agfascanner. This was a MFS-6000SP
(or MSF-6000SP) scanner. Anyway, I #-commented out the other
scanners in the dll.conf file, and left just mustek running.
Then xscanimage worked.

Two things you may want to add/correct in the documentation:

#1# My scanner has MSF-6000SP written on the front of it, but the
scsi product id query identifies it as an MSF-06000SPÿÿÿÿÿ (which
is what the SANE-mustek documentation refers to). Looks like
the Mustek company got a little confused about MSF and MFS, 'cos
"S" and "F" sound the same :) Mentioning they are the same scanner
would be helpful.

#2# You may want to mention *somewhere* how that you can edit the
default dll.conf file to get the scanner running. This had me stuck
for quite a while.
