>>>>> On Tue, 19 Aug 1997 17:24:33 -0700, Gordon Matzigkeit <gord@m-tech.ab.ca> said:

Gord> Hi, all! When I run xscanimage from the sane-0.62
Gord> distribution under gimp-0.99.10, I can crash the gimp simply
Gord> by selecting file|exit from the xscanimage window.

Gord> This is because xscanimage exits without calling `gimp_quit',
Gord> so GIMP barfs with:

Gord> wire_read: unexpected EOF gimp fatal error: sigsegv caught
Gord> [n]othing, [e]xit, [s]tack trace, [a]ttach to process:

Gord> The attached patch fixes the problem, at least on SANE's end.
Gord> Arguably, GIMP should be more robust against EOF conditions,
Gord> but I don't feel like messing with the GIMP sources right now,
Gord> and this patch is definitely correct. ;)

Ah, yes, I noticed that too and I think the fix was in the pre0.63
patch already (along with a couple of other minor fixes). I plan on
making an updated pre0.63 patch soon that contains Oliver's UMAX
changes so if you haven't gotten the pre0.63 patch yet, you may just
want to wait for the forthcoming one.
