<P>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;just to let you know that I solved my &quot;scanner scans only garbage&quot;

problem. What I had overlooked was that somewhere between the 2.4.1 and

2.4.5 kernels the aic7xxx driver has been replaced by something &quot;new&quot;.
<BR>
<P>This &quot;new&quot; thing seems to be the source of all my trouble (I'll
<BR>
contact the author/s in a separate mail); switching to &quot;aic7xxx_old&quot;
<BR>
in the kernel config did the job.
