> > > Normally this link should point to sane/libsane-dll....

> > > Did you try sane-1.0.1 or sane-1.0.2?

> > This happens with sane-1.0.2 as I recognized yesterday. Yes,

> > sane-1.0.1 has been uninstalled beforehand. I couldn't get my Microtek

> this is strange, it works fine for me.

> Did you remove the subdirectory "sane" in /usr/(local)/lib

> before you installed sane-1.0.2?

Okay, took me some days to have some time for trying it out. I removed
everything related to sane from my system (in /usr/local/lib/,
../etc/, ../bin etc.). I unpacked sane-1.0.2, did a ( ./configure ;
make ; su -c "make install ) and edited /usr/local/etc/dll.conf, so
that it just contains "microtek".

| shutdown:/usr/local/lib/sane# ls -l libsane.so.1

Huh?

> I can not imagine why ldconfig should set a link?!

Me neither - but it does.

> What is your system?
