Hi,

I recently bought a Nikon coolscan III (ls-30) and it is not detected
somehow. The hardware works; I have a dual-boot with Win95 and it works
fine in Windows.

The hardware is detected during boot. I see both my SCSI zip and Nikon
Coolscan detected. My Zip drive works fine in Linux. I'm using
Mandrake 6.1. The SCSI card is an AIC7850; came with the scanner.

typing xcanimage yields:
xscanimage
xscanimage: no devices available.

Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkmain.c: line 533 (gtk_main_quit): assertion
`main_loops != NULL' failed.
----------

typing:
scanimage --list-devices => is blank
scanimage -T => scanimage: no SANE devices found

I have nothing under /dev/scanner (does not exist).

I hope this provides enough clues for someone to help me. Or point me
to the appropriate doc. <g>

Thanks,

John
