I am pretty sure that you can use the stock kernel with
|
|
<BR>
|
|
SCSI scanners. SuSE's YaST does have an option to install
|
|
<BR>
|
|
a scanner, so I guess they have all the necessary modules
|
|
<BR>
|
|
pre-compiled and installed. (SuSE's installation is modules
|
|
<BR>
|
|
based). You need a module for the SCSI controller and for
|
|
<BR>
|
|
generic SCSI devices.
|
|
<BR>
|
|
<P>I usually run a SuSE kernel only for the installation and
|
|
<BR>
|
|
right after the system comes up I'm installing one that I've
|
|
<BR>
|
|
compiled so I can not give you a better answer. Read the
|
|
<BR>
|
|
manual and search for "scanner installation" in the index.
