Hi Keith,

try SANEs find-scanner tool to find out the correct device. Maybe you
need to link to /dev/sg0.
> Hi,
>
> I'm trying to use sane with a SCSI HP 5p scanner. The problem, the
> device does not show up as a usable device:
> # scanimage -L
> device `pnm:0' is a Noname PNM file reader virtual device
> device `pnm:1' is a Noname PNM file reader virtual device
>
> Linux (COL 2.2) see's the scanner as shown in the following dmesg:
> Vendor: HP Model: C5110A Rev: 3635
> Type: Processor ANSI SCSI revision: 02
> Detected scsi generic sgb at scsi0, channel 0, id 2, lun 0
>
> The hp.conf file contains the following:
> scsi HP
> /dev/scanner
>
> The /dev/scanner is a sym link to /dev/sgb (sgb links to sg1) and
> permissions are set to 666.
>
> Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.
