Depends on the scanner. Sane really only knows about SCSI scanners...<br>
But, some parallel port scanners are actually SCSI scanners hidden behind a<br>
parport-&gt;SCSI adapter. If there is a linux driver for that adapter, then,<br>
theoretically anyway, the scanner could be made to work.<br>

Just in the last few days a new (test) version of the ppSCSI drivers<br>
was posted to the linux-parport list... check out the archived message:<br>

There is also the USB possibility. The linux USB code is evolving<br>
at a huge rate. I wouldn't be at all surprised if in a month or two some<br>
of the USB scanners could be made to work as well. <br>
