> I have done test scans with WinSANE 0.0.0.0, haven't tried 0.0.1.0 yet but
> I expect the same results. With a test backend, where I can choose the
> default and precise behaviour, I can get a good scan. With a real scanner
> as you noted, the default tends to be LineArt, which won't work in this
> package yet. I think the developer of 0.0.1.0 is probably many months from
> having a working package, which is a shame.

Actually... if someone sends me the format of the data for line art scans
I'll add it rather quickly... otherwise I'll have to sit down and take a
look at it. Once I get a couple of solid days work I'll have get/set
parameters working so this won't be as big of an issue... but that could be
a while. I wish people would have given me the feedback about lineart... I
would have supported it for the 0.0.1.0 release. My Microtek scanner
defaults to 24bit scans.

Which as far as the name goes... I started the project many months ago but
stopped when the TWAIN DLL was announce to be available shortly. When I
found that the DLL didn't work for me and that the source for it wasn't
going to be released I started again. I don't really care about the name but
I think the initial TWAIN DLL project is pretty much dead... my current
scanning application will eventually turn into a TWAIN DLL.
