 When I do cal 'make distclean' I get 'permission denied on many files'.<br>
 rm: alloca.o: Permission denied, and so on.<br>

 As root I chmoded the sane-1.00 directory with 777. No results.<br>
 <p>
 './configure' also fails with permission denied messages.<br>
 <p>
 What should I do?<br>
