I am running IRIX 5.3 on a SGI Personal Iris 4D/35, which is equipped as
following:

1 36 MHZ IP12 Processor
FPU: MIPS R2010A/R3010 VLSI Floating Point Chip Revision: 4.0
CPU: MIPS R2000A/R3000 Processor Chip Revision: 3.0
On-board serial ports: 4
On-board bi-directional parallel port
Data cache size: 64 Kbytes
Instruction cache size: 64 Kbytes
Main memory size: 56 Mbytes
Integral Ethernet: ec0, version 0
Integral SCSI controller 0: Version WD33C93A, revision 9
Scanner: unit 5 on SCSI controller 0
Disk drive: unit 1 on SCSI controller 0
Iris Audio Processor: revision 3
Graphics board: GR1.2 Bit-plane, Z-buffer, Turbo options installed
VME bus: adapter 0

The scanner is a UMAX Astra 1200 S.

I have installed the SANE 0.73 package, with gtk+ 1.0.4 and gimp 1.0.0.

The problem is, that although the scanner ist listed in the hinv I don't
get a devicefile (probably because I'm a bloody rookie and I don't even
know how ;-). So xscanimage only offers pnm:0 and pnm:1, which is of course
not what I am looking for.

Can anybody give me a hint what to do???

Matthias Gamisch
