I've never done a Umax/Microtek comparison, so I can't speak for scanner<br>
|
|
quality pros/cons, nor for the state of the Umax backend.<br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
But as far as the Microtek backend goes: it's pretty basic right now.<br>
|
|
All E6 scan modes are implemented, but many image enhancement controls<br>
|
|
are not (i.e. gamma tables, digital brightness). Exposure/contrast act<br>
|
|
a little funny, too.<br>
|
|
The command line 'mtekscan' is pretty feature-full, but also suffers from<br>
|
|
some of these funny controls, too.<br>
|
|

|
For $30, I'd try to figure out which hardware is more solid....<br>
