I'm giving this thread this name in order for people who are looking for the
answer, which I think are a lot, could find it here through the keywords...
I have eventually managed to getting my SE600SP with it's DTC3181e work under
Linux (through SANE) and M$ (through TWAIN). Under M$ it locks the OS totally
when it scans ok. It takes some (not that much) time to scan and I get the
result ok.
Under Linux some people say that it locks the system and makes a lot of time
to complete. What I experience is that the system is not locked but the
scanning of a 120x120mm area in 300dpi color mode takes up to 10-15 minutes
even if I'm root and even if I scan with ``nice -19''.
I've searched through Altavista with a line: ``host:www.mostang.com +slow
+mustek'' and found nothing worth, but a posting of someone saying 'bout
kernel hacking and increasing the buffer from its max of 127kb to 2MB or
something.
Is this buffer that's causing all the delay in contrast to M$, or is it
something else? If it is the buffer, then could we actually make the kernel
accept values bigger that 127Kb for it?
I and many people more thank you in advance!
