I'm not sure if you subscribe to the SANE developer mailing list so
I thought I'd let you know that there is a patch that fixes this bug
available from

Late maybe. Great never. But thanks. I'm going to try to make some
long-needed modifications to the backend after I get back from
Christmas holidays. In the meantime, I hope the backend works fine
