Yes, this is correct, it plugs into a port on the back of the scanner. I
have never seen one of these kits though.

Well, sort of. The documentation for the AT3 & A6000C PLUS states that for
these 2 models, the lamp inside the scanner can not be turned off via
software. I don't know what page it's on, but it's in section 4.4 concerning
about mode select.

I believe some of the scanners that support turning the lamp on/off have
this supported automatically in the backend, but I don't know for sure.
