Hi Oliver,

After Bernd Seemann's reply, here is mine. I don't know what Bernd's
scanner is, but on my Astra 610S, I got the following results with your
Astra 6X0S patch.

Grey mode : The output from a scan of the full scan area starts with a
black area and the scanner stops before reaching the end of the scan
area. (The unscanned area have the same size as the black area).

Here are the size of the black area, based on the resolution :

100 dpi (849x1169), 417 black lines.
200 dpi (1699x2339), 189 black lines.
300 dpi (2549x3509), 107 black lines.
75 dpi (637x877), 560 black lines.
50 dpi (424x584), full image is black and the scanner hang (scanimage
return before scanner start to move, but no need to turn the scanner off
and on).

Color preview mode : Same problem as above (black area). The colors are
"CCD" miss-aligned. (A horizontal black line will show 3 lines, first
Yellow, second Magenta, third Cyan). The distance between lines change
based on the resolution.

Here are the size of the black area and the "distance between lines",
based on the resolution :

50 dpi (424x584), 366 black lines, 7 pixel between lines. (Y->M and
M->C).
75 dpi (637x877), 246 black lines, 10 pixel between Y and M lines, 4
pixel between M and C lines.
100 dpi (849x1169), 171 black lines, 9 pixel between Y and M lines, 13
pixel between M and C lines.
200 dpi (1699x2339), 75 black lines, 14 pixel between Y and M lines, 10
pixel between M and C lines.
300 dpi [out of memory :-(]

Color mode : The scanner move for about 5mm, and go back. This hang the
scanner (must turn off and on). The output image is some sort of range
from Cyan to Magenta to Yellow, may be related to calibration, but I
don't understand how calibration work without moving the scanner...

If you need more informations or want to do some more tests, just ask...

Nicolas.
