Hi,
After reading a message or two in the archives regarding supporting
set-top video cameras, I got a bit interested.

I've been looking at this one video camera made by Alaris called the
QuickVideo DVC1. A look on their site (www.alaris.com) reveals that
the camera can do 15-30 fps video, or _1600x1200_ high resolution still
captures. Does anyone know how well this is supported under Linux or if
it even is at all? It uses the parallel port and keyboard for power.
I do recall one person telling me they got a quickcam-like device from
someone else, and installed a Linux kernel with Video4linux support and
it came up as an Alaris QuickVideo weeCam -- if that is supported I wonder
if this camera could/is supported as well?

Anyone have one of these cameras to testify? I hear they're only $120

Here's a snippet from their description of it:
DVC1 connects to your PC through a standard parallel port and draws power
from the keyboard connector making it ideal for use with notebooks on the run.
You won't need to lug around another AC adapter or PCMCIA video capture
card. Unlike other parallel port video cameras, DVC1 allows you to capture full
motion video at frame rates from 15 to 30 frames per second. You can also
snap great high resolution pictures at resolutions up to 1600x1200!

It's primarily the still captures that I am interested in.
