Version 0.4 of sanecgi has been released.

sanecgi is a CGI front end to the 'scanimage' program. Using sanecgi,
a group of people in an office can easily take advantage of a single
scanner attached to a single Linux server. I wrote it for my own
office, in which three people with Windows workstations needed
access to a scanner; we didn't want to waste a computer as a
dedicated scanner workstation.

Scans are displayed as inline images in a web browser, and can easily be
saved to disk using the browser. sanecgi takes care of conversion to GIF,
JPEG, or PNG format and supports a good subset of the more common scanning
parameters.

"What's new in version 0.4?"

sanecgi 0.4 scans correctly in GIF format, renders error messages
successfully when scanning line art, and supplies much more
reasonable default values. A new technique is used to prevent
browser caches from interfering with scans.

"What platforms does it run on?"

sanecgi runs in any standard Unix-style CGI environment, provided
that Perl 5 and the pbmplus/netpbm utilities are present. A few
other pieces are required for PNG support. For complete
details of exactly what is needed and where to get it, see the
sanecgi home page.
