I simply installed sane first and found some unresolved items.<br>
Then i installed gtk and rerun sane configuration and compilation. Fine.<br>
My linux (S.u.S.E. 4.4.1) was not able to compile, the needed libs etc.<br>
are not in that distribution.<br>
That's it.<br>

BTW: When using browser to select output filename it shows a funny<br>
filename:<br>
4<><34><EFBFBD><EFBFBD>L@<40>?<08>?<08>?@<08>)@<br>
This is a bug.<br>
