Hello Nicholas,
<BR>
<P>it seems that the scanner does not respond to some of the very first
<BR>
inquire commands. It recognized as an HP scanner because otherwise it
<BR>
would have failed earlier.
<BR>
Maybe it is a timing problem.
<BR>
<P>Please try to donwload the hpscan tool from my homepage and build it on
<BR>
your machine.
<BR>
<P>If you have build it, set the environment variable SANE_DEBUG_HPSCAN to
<BR>
128 and
<BR>
start the command
<BR>
<P>hpscan /dev/scsi/sc1d5l0 -qerror
<BR>
<P>and
<BR>
<P>hpscan /dev/scsi/sc1d5l0 -reset 0 -qerror
<BR>
<P>and send the output back to me. The latter one will do similar things
<BR>
like on startup of scanimage.
<BR>
<P>Sincerely
