README

This is the sane-frontends package.

To find out more about SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) look at the SANE
website: http://www.mostang.com/sane/. There is also information on how to
subscribe the SANE-mailinglist (sane-devel).

These SANE applications (frontends) are included in this package (together
with their documentation):

    Frontend Documentation (man page)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
    xscanimage xscanimage(1)
    xcam xcam(1)

For general information about SANE, read man sane(7).

You must install the sane-backends package before you can compile the
frontends. sane-backends also includes the command.line frontend scanimage.

For details about installation please read the INSTALL file.

The following frontends can be downloaded seperately:

    xsane (http://www.wolfsburg.de/~rauch/sane/sane-xsane.html)
An improved graphical frontend for scanners based on gtk++

    QuiteInsane (http://sourceforge.net/projects/quiteinsane)
Graphical frontend based on Qt 2.2.x

    scanadf (http://www.martoneconsulting.com/sane-scanadf.html)
A command-line frontend that offers additional capabilities that are
suited towards document scanners with automatic document feeders

    sanecgi (http://www.boutell.com/sanecgi/)
A web interface to all SANE-compatible scanners

See also http://www.mostang.com/sane/sane-frontends.html for a list of
frontends.

Developers may wish to look at the SANE standard (sane.tex). It can be found
in the sane-backends distribution or in various file formats at the website:
